About this piece
Designed by Tlingit Artist Ronnie Fairbanks of Craig, Alaska. The Tlingit and Haida Indian kinship systems are divided between eagle and raven moieties. All clans fall under either Raven or Eagle moiety that form two halves of a whole Tlingit or Haida society. Traditionally Ravens would marry Eagles, and when members of one moiety are grieving, members of the other offer support. In this way and many others the moieties maintain balance and social structure. Skateboards are cold pressed and constructed of 7 plies of 100% American/Canadian Maple (wood species-Acer Saccharum).
