About this piece
In honor of the Civilian Conservation Corps youth who helped shape our modern National Park System, we made the Northwoods hiking sock to work hard. But hard labor is no match for their soft, snug fit. Sure, they'll crush trails like a pound of dynamite, but with details like breathable cushioning and low-profile, slouch-free 1x1 ribbing, the only grunt you'll make is when the wildlife tries to steal these socks.
About the artist
Ric Cabot's family has been making socks in the same Northfield mill since 1978. When cheap imports nearly killed the business, Ric pivoted to premium merino wool and slapped an unconditional lifetime guarantee on every pair. The bet worked. Darn Tough now knits over 30,000 pairs a day, employs 300+ Vermonters, and has an estimated return rate under 3%. The guarantee isn't a gimmick — it's a quality control mechanism that forces them to build socks that simply don't wear out.
