Sea Urchin Votive

Add an artful glow to any space with these sea urchin-inspired porcelain votives by Asheville-based artist Anja Bartels. Anja’s nautical surface designs are inspired by her love of the ocean and her childhood memories of growing up in a port city on the North Sea. Each of these votive candle holders is hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel. Anja then uses a technique called slip trailing to apply tiny decorative spikes to the surface, which requires a steady hand and lots of patience.
