Summer berry gathering is an important subsistence activity for many Indigenous people for nutrition, health, and wellness.  While berry picking, it is common to run into these tiny little worms – berry guardians -  that curl up and hang off branches. These earrings reflect the shape of these little beings that hang out in the blueberry bushes. These earrings represent some of the basic elements of Northwest Coast Formline design.
