About this piece
The Kolla Bolcha co-op in the Agaro region produces some fine coffees. We first experienced coffees from this area in 2017 when we picked up some Nano Challa ( a co-op close by) but the outturn from this newer co-op, Kolla Bolcha, in our opinion surpasses even that. This fully washed offering is bright and velvety, with notes of stone fruit, florals and black tea. It has a silky, medium weight body and a clean finish. A staff favorite! This area in Western Ethiopia has benefited tremendously from USAID’s Technoserve Project which helped establish washing stations in the region, allowing for better processing and ultimately higher prices paid to the farmers for the coffee.
