About this piece

Refugio, n. Refuge , in Italian. Inspired by retro, wraparound silhouettes favored by endurance athletes, The Refugio is the first frame to fuse our armless design with a truly sport-forward, performance profile. The new nose pads also accommodate a wider range of face shapes. Full-wrap coverage and mirrored Zeiss optics offer 100% UVA/UVB refuge, ideal for high-output where airflow and visibility are crucial. Handmade in Italy, The Refugio is Z87.1 certified. Available with side shields and an all-new nose shield for a very badass, vigilante aesthetic. Ombra, n. Shade , in Italian. Ombraz armless sungl...

About the artist

In 2012 Jensen Brehm was on a five-day camel safari in India's Thar Desert when someone sat on his sunglasses. He remembered a NOLS trick — wrap a cord around the broken hinges and tie it behind your head — and was floored by how well it worked. Six years and a college friendship later, Jensen and Nikolai Paloni launched Ombraz on Indiegogo in spring 2018, raising $165K from 1,400 backers in 30 days. Today the company runs out of Bellevue, WA, and ships armless polarized sunglasses to alpinists, anglers, and bikepackers who got tired of replacing snapped temples.
